Gratitude
We've been wanting to get our blog back and running for some time now. It's something that we always have the best intentions of maintaining but it's also the first thing that seems to get pushed to the back burner as our days inevitably fill up.
The most recent blog was was to get a post up for Thanksgiving weekend. Well, this week, like most others, I saw my days grow full with the day to day tasks that are necessary to keep Lick Honest Ice Creams running along as smoothly as possible. By Tuesday morning I had already resigned myself to the fact that I would just not be able to get a post up, like I had told myself so many times before. How could I? I hadn't chosen a topic, research said topic, or really given any thought to what I wanted to write about. It just wasn't going to happen.
That brings us to this morning. Thanksgiving Day morning with no content for a post. I'm sitting at my kitchen table, drinking a cup of coffee and waiting for the corn pudding to finish baking while Chad is hastily packing our overnight bag. As soon as the pudding is baked, the bags are packed, the dog is brushed, and the ice cream is loaded into the chest (we always take ice cream for the holidays), Chad and I will make the two hour drive to my sister's home and all I can think of is gratitude. That word has been running through my mind every day this week. The past few weeks have been somewhat challenging, for a variety of reasons, but I'm still full with the sense of that word.
Perhaps that's enough to write about because at the end of the day, that's really what it comes down to for us here at Lick. We feel truly grateful to be able to dream up and create delicious, clean, honest ice creams with you all in mind every day. Grateful that we get to work with some of the finest, most humble farmers and food artisans that call our great state home. Grateful for those wonderful people, flavors, and places that inspired us to make our ice creams and so grateful for the privilege of sharing them with you all. Lastly, we're so thankful for y'all embracing and supporting Lick one scoop at a time. If you're reading this, you probably already know that every ounce of our ice creams are made of the finest local ingredients and handmade inclusions, but please know that for us, it's really full of our gratitude to be able to do what we love.
So from all of us here at Lick, we wish y'all the most wonderful Thanksgiving that's full of time spent with family and friends and of course, gratitude.
